4wd Rainforest And Waterfall ExplorationExplore > Australia > Port Douglas > 4wd Rainforest And Waterfall ExplorationOverviewWorld heritage rainforest at its best! Australia is a massive place. Just take a look at a map and hover over its enormity. Miles and miles of coastlines. The never ending expanse of the Outback. Out of this world flora and fauna. With all of this size and variance, the area that is Northeast Australia provides a perfect microscope into all that Australia's habitats have to offer. An experienced naturalist guide will take you off the paved highway roads, with a few stops along the way, and into the mystery of the National Parks that bookend the northeastern shore. Starting at Barron Gorge National Park you will pay a visit to Surprise Falls which stands at a beautiful 243 meters high. Although "surprise" is its namesake, the real surprise is at Barron Falls where if you are lucky you will arrive during a period of heavy rainfall. The power of water will be on full display as the Barron River rushes through the National Park and plummets into the lower Barron Gorge. Trust us when we tell you this isn't your average waterfall. Lake Morris lookout will be one of the many stops along the way providing spectacular views of the changing landscape. From here you will look back upon the coast for spectacular views over Cairns and towards Green Island. At Lake Morris and the Copperlode Dam even more impressive landscapes will be on the horizon as you are now surrounded by the World Heritage rainforest-clad mountains. An exclusive access permit will allow your guide to take you to many places not open to the public or larger buses. These unpaved tracks will wind through the rainforest and over mountains of the Great Dividing Range which separates multiple climates and Eco-systems. Every step of the way your guide will interpret the rainforest surroundings and introduce you to everything from massive ferns to the giant strangler Fig tree. The perfect day away from the crowds and into Australian's epic wilderness. - This tour isn't recommended for travelers with limited mobility. - Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for potentially wet weather. - You must be at least 4 years old to participate. - This tour requires a minimum of 4 passengers to run.
