Overview
Experience a culture different from your own in the most interactive way possible.
When most people think about Jamaica, their first thought is usually related to Bob Marley or the Rastafarian lifestyle. Unfortunately, the Rastafarian way of life is largely misunderstood. With a visit to a Rastafarian working village, you will gain a deeper understanding of this culture that is so intertwined with Jamaica. The origins of this village are, in fact, linked with tourism, as locals looked for a way to showcase their philosophies and general way of life.
To reach the village, we must walk through an ankle-deep creek, becoming touched by nature. As you walk, your guide will bring your attention to the flora and fauna unique to Jamaica. Enjoy stories about the development of Rastafarian culture and the diverse history of Jamaica, which begged the creation of this indigenous village.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted with refreshing coconut water and with that your interactive experience begins. Rastafarian culture emphasizes purity, along with mental and physical well being. You will be taken to a labrynth and taught a meditative ritual that highlights the importance of mind over matter.
Next, you will delight your senses with a visit to the village's considerable collection of over 90 medicinal herbs. Each provides unique healing powers with their varying qualities and uses.
Before we send you on your way, you will be inspired by a choral send-off and the music linked to the lifestyle of these people.
- You will be ankle deep in water when crossing the river. We suggest you wear shorts or loose fitting pants that can be rolled.
