Panoramic Queluz, Sintra And The Estoril CoastExplore > Portugal > Lisbon > Panoramic Queluz, Sintra And The Estoril CoastOverviewIt can be said that if you come to Lisbon, it is mandatory to visit Sintra and Estoril's Coast! Estoril Coast will always be remembered as a charming place, with its famous beaches and the pretty towns of Estoril and Cascais. About the town of Sintra and its natural surroundings, we can say that it is one of Portugal's ex-libris, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site! This tour will take you on a full-day journey exploring the best Portuguese royal residences with the relaxing views of the Portuguese seaside. Enjoy the ride as your guide imparts his knowledge of the history and the land surrounding Lisbon. The first stop will be in Queluz to visit the Queluz National Palace. This palace represents the extravagant life of the Portuguese royalty in the 18th century in an incredible rococo structure surrounded by beautiful gardens. After a detailed visit to the Palace, your tour continues to the World Heritage Site of Sintra where hundreds of years of history and culture await. The town is an eclectic mix of natural and manmade beauty: fantasy castles set amid exotic tropical plants, lush green valleys, and craggy hilltops with hazy views of Lisbon and the Atlantic. It was the summer escape of the royalty and, as it is only 11 miles northwest of Lisbon, it was an easy trip for Lisbon's kings. Lord Byron called this spot a "glorious Eden." During a short walk in the old city center, you'll find yourself surrounded by old houses now converted into small, quaint handicraft stores and traditional pastry shops. Driving around the mountain, you will pass by amazing palaces, chalets and aristocratic residences in the most incredible combination of architectural styles, colors, and shapes to be found anywhere in Portugal. Enjoy a lovely lunch (meal not included) in one of the many traditional restaurants. After browsing through hundreds of years of history it will be time to relax by driving to the town of Cascais. Once a small fishing village, the town of Cascais managed to maintain its seafaring traditions combined with the aristocratic and royal presences of the late 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Strolling its animated town center you'll find cosmopolitan life co-existing side by side with Cascais' maritime past. The return to Lisbon will follow a very special road named "Marginal" by the Portuguese. Running parallel to white sandy beaches and amazing 17th-century fortresses, this road starts in the town of Estoril, famous for its casino. From this area, you'll also have a great view of Estoril and its gardens. Your guide will take you on a sightseeing tour along the coastal road of Estoril, one of the most beautiful and charming itineraries of all the Lisbon surroundings. - Cruise ship passengers will be met at the cruise terminal by a representative of the tour company, who will then escort you to your touring vehicle, about a 5-10 minute walk from the pier.
