Auckland West Coast Walking TourExplore > New Zealand > Auckland > Auckland West Coast Walking TourOverviewThe best way to soak in Auckland's beauty is on foot! One of the main reasons so many people fall in love with Auckland is the natural beauty so easily found in and around the city. Most people can walk city streets back home, going through boutique shops and cozy cafes. We aren't saying this is a bad way to spend your time, but, if you have access to lush rain forests, amazing coastal views, and unique New Zealand flora, then take advantage of it! After a pickup in central Auckland, you'll venture west, where you'll find the best hiking trails just outside the city. Passing through Titirangi, Maori for "Fringe of Heaven," provides the perfect introduction to your arrival into the Waitakere Ranges. Cruising through this subtropical rain forest, your guide will give you the rundown on all of the plants and animals native to this region. At the Arataki Visitor Center, soak in the views of Auckland's city center and the expanse of the Waitakere Ranges. Once you travel farther towards the west coast and away from the crowds, you'll hit the trails and start maneuvering your way through the forest. Stop to examine indigenous plants along the way will break up your hike and give you a better grasp of the history of the area. Keep your eye out for the iconic silver fern, which serves as a symbol for all things New Zealand. Views of everything from massive Kauri trees to the Tasman Sea will be included in the highlights of your day. You will undoubtedly work up an appetite and a picnic lunch overlooking what Auckland's volcanic activity has created provides the ultimate reflection. Make sure you a bring a camera, but we can assure you that pictures will not do your day ahead any justice. - Please wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes suitable for the weather conditions. - This tour takes a maximum of 15 passengers. - You must be able to walk for 4-5 hours over uneven terrain to do this tour. - Please note this excursion is not available if you are transporting luggage with you.
