Overview

You may not have heard of Akaroa before. You will remember it now.

This tour takes you onto the roads that the big buses from the cruise ships can't get to.

If you read about a lot of tours being offered around Akaroa, you might see the term "views" quite a bit, and there is a good reason for this. The word isn't thrown around lightly. The peninsula surrounding Akaroa truly has some of the best views in New Zealand. Consider this tour an overview of the best views, giving you plenty of time to explore the most French influenced seaside town in the country.

Driving out along the Banks Peninsula, you will traverse the hills and crater rims formed by the volcanic activity that played such a large role in the creation of New Zealand. Picturesque Bays are carved into the countryside, creating secluded havens and scenic coves. Your local guide knows the area better than anyone in the area (other than the sheep, of course), and will provide stops at the best-kept secrets around. Summit Road is the literal highest spot along the shore and provides a stunning shot of the Akaroa Peninsula. Tikao Bay Lookout offers dramatic photo opportunities of your cruise ship and the perfect vantage point to grab your bearings when imagining where your ship came in from.

This quick-fire tour may end up providing the best VIEWS on your whole vacation.
