Private: Penang Immersion HighlightsExplore > Malaysia > Penang > Private: Penang Immersion HighlightsOverviewThis day is a surprising mix of highlights, local experiences, and nature. This tour will show you some of the highlights of Penang but really focuses more on the culture and the people of the area. Upon your arrival into the Swettehham Penang port, you will meet your guide and together experience a traditional funicular train ride to the Goddess of Mercy Statue from Kek Lok Si Temple. This Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam in Penang faces the sea and commands an impressive view and is one of the best known temples on the island. It is said to be the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. Here you will have a tortoise encounter at the pond, which holds hundreds of tortoises. Follow this experience with a visit to the cool hill, simply named Penang Hill, which sits about 2750 feet above sea level and is the oldest hill resort in the country. It is known for its cool, unpolluted air and historical significance. You will take a funicular train which dates back to 1923, and has since been upgraded, to bring you to the top. The train ride is an experience in itself, coupled by colorful flora you’ll see as Penang Hill sits above the very forested and hilly lowlands which creates a beautiful background. Your other stops during your tour will be the Fishing Village, Chowrasta Bazaar and Lorong Kulit Flea Market. Your time at each will be determined by your interest. Throughout the journey, you’ll pass by Batu Feringghi, a winding road where many beach resorts are located and Penang Bridge. - Lunch is included in the tour cost. - Entrances are included in the tour cost. - Beverages, and gratuities are not included. - Please note there is surcharge pricing for all National and New Year holidays as well as peak season.
