Overview
The sun, sand, shopping, and luxury of Marbella provides a lovely break from historic sites.
This is a dreamy town that has exploded. Once you see the beaches, you will understand why.
Just an hour's drive from Gilbraltar is the chic, sun-drenched Costa del Sol town of Marbella. You will see hints of the Moorish occupation here, but most prominent are the modern-day resorts and their amenities. The sand is beautiful, particularly on the famous La Fontanilla beach. There is plenty to see and do as the Andalusian charm of the historic quarter calls you. Its white-washed buildings, remaining remnants of the ninth-century Arab fortress is still scented by the fragrant orange trees.
You will enjoy seeing the beautiful yachts parked in the marina. The streets feature all of the major designers, both international and local well-known merchants, for a little shopping. A lovely ride through the neighborhood referred to as the "local Beverly Hills" will surprise you and is a huge contrast to the historical center. Here you will feel the glamour, the wealth, and the chic lifestyle that Marbella is known for.
Lunch at a beachside restaurant, perhaps? Sounds like a perfect day.
And on your return to Gibraltar, a little panoramic drive so you can see "The Rock" before returning to your starting point.
- You must bring your passport as you are entering another country. Gilbraltar is United Kingdom and Marbella is on the coast of Spain.
