Amsterdam is the Dutch Jewish community's headquarters, historically and even today. The Holocaust deeply affected the Jewish community here as approximately 80% of the 80,000 Jews present in Amsterdam were killed during that time. However, the community has managed to rebuild a vibrant and lively Jewish life for its 15,000 present members.
Our tour begins at the Auschwitz Monument (also referred to as "Mirror Memorial"), created in the early '90s by Dutch artist and writer Jan Hendrik Wolkers. It is comprised of six broken mirrors, representing the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Anne Frank and her family were among them.
Next, we'll visit the Hollandse Schouwburg, operated by the Jewish Historical Museum. This former theater served as a gathering place from where Jews were deported. We'll then go to the elegant Portuguese Synagogue, followed by lunch.
After lunch, we’ll visit the Anne Frank House, the hiding place where Anne wrote her famous diary during World War II. We'll then walk through the Jewish Quarter (you'll need to be able to walk for 30 minutes), with your guide providing narration along the way.
- Entrance fees and lunch are not included in the price of this tour. Entrance fees for Hollandse Schouwburg and Auschwitz Monument will be about 20 Euros per person.
- If you are interested in going to the Anne Frank house we recommend starting your tour no later than 8:30 AM to avoid lines and crowds.
- Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

- You must be able to walk over uneven surfaces (cobblestone) for approximately 30 minutes.
- Entrance fees to the Anne Frank House are non-refundable.

- Due to opening/closing hours, the latest this program can start is 9 AM.
- This Portuguese Synagogue is closed on Saturdays.
