Overview
Journey out of town to Praia do Forte, with a great beach stop along the way!
Depart from the cruise ship pier and drive along the northern coastline to reach the Coconut Road. After approximately one hour, you will arrive at Praia do Forte.
Begin with a visit to the ruins of the Garcia D’Ávila Castle, a unique example of medieval architecture in the Americas and one of the earliest large-scale Portuguese construction projects in Brazil. From this magnificent vantage point, take in the splendid view over the beach. You will also visit a fishing village and the Tamar Project, created for the protection of nesting sea turtles.
Now it's time to stop for lunch at a local restaurant, and then enjoy some free time for shopping and walking around the village. On the way back to Salvador, you'll stop at a fine beach near Guarajuba Village where you will have the chance to swim in the sparkling waves. Beverages and snacks are available from a native kiosk.
