Private Kota Kinabalu Old Town Walking TourExplore > Malaysia > Kota Kinabalu > Private Kota Kinabalu Old Town Walking TourOverviewThe mix of culture in Kota Kinabalu is as intriguing as the eclectic food. We'll save you the struggle and just let you refer to Kota Kinabalu as KK, everyone else does. This ever-growing location wasn't dubbed a "city" until 2000 and is quickly climbing the charts as one of the largest metropolitan areas in Malaysia. Surrounded by Mount Kinabalu and the South China Sea, KK provides the perfect combination of industrial growth and natural beauty, a sign of the times in this ever-changing country. Following your pickup at the pier, you will proceed on foot to a local market, where you will see vendors selling goods from all around the region. From woven baskets to pearls, you will quickly enjoy the idea of this being a one-stop shop for travelers and locals alike. At the spice bazaar, you will learn about the various spices and their uses for cooking curries and local Malaysian cuisine. On your way out of the market, grab a refreshing glass of pulled tea "Teh Tarik" and "Roti Canai," which is an Indian pancake eaten with curry sauce. Reaching the oldest part of town, you will explore Merdeka Square--home to all National Day celebrations in commemoration of Malayan independence. At the Atkinson Clock Tower, you will see one of the longest standing landmarks in KK which was surprisingly built with all wood and no nails in memory of the first District Officer during the British control of Borneo. It is currently the oldest standing structure in all of Sabah and impressively survived World War II. Along Gaya Street, the oldest street in KK, you will walk through what was the heart of town back in the "olden" days. When the moment strikes, feel free to sit down for lunch at a restaurant handed down from generation to generation. Following the tour, your guide will arrange your transportation back to the cruise ship pier. - Other than your pickup and drop-off at the pier, this is entirely a walking tour. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. - Lunch is not included in the price of the tour. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
