Best Way To See The Island Of CapriExplore > Italy > Sorrento > Best Way To See The Island Of CapriOverviewThis introduction to Capri will create a longing to return. With great anticipation, you will meet your guide at the port of Sorrento after disembarking your ship. The guide will bring you to the hydrofoil which will take you to the magical island of Capri. As soon as you arrive you will begin your tour with the funicular ride to Capritown and La Piazzetta. This path is lined with wonderful old and new building, sidewalk cafes, and of course, the shops! There are several different directions of interest on the island and your guide will help you determine which will be most inspiring to you. You may want to visit the Gardens of Caesar Augustus or to the Punta Tragara, both very easy walks. If you prefer something a little more challenging, your guide will lead you up to the Villa Jovis to visit the ruins of Tiberius' most important imperial villa. This is a wonderful but fairly long walk. You may choose to visit Anacapri, where you can pick between two adventures. For those unafraid of heights, a chair lift may be the absolute highlight of your day. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the top in single chairs silently gliding through the sky with the amazing vista below of the bluest Mediterranean seas and the whitest, highest cliffs with colourful houses perched in the most impossible places. The second option takes you to Villa San Michele, the charming former home of Swedish doctor and philanthropist Axel Munthe (1857-1949) that Henry James called "the most fantastic beauty, poetry, and inutility that one had ever seen clustered together." The villa is set around Roman-style courtyards, marble walkways, and atriums. Medieval choir stalls, Renaissance lecterns, and gilded statues of saints are all part of the setting, with some rooms preserving the doctor's personal memorabilia. A spectacular pergola path overlooking the entire Bay of Naples leads from the villa to the famous Sphinx Parapet, where an ancient Egyptian sphinx looks out toward Sorrento. With the direction of your guide, you will complete a very satisfying day with your hydrofoil return to Sorrento. - This tour does not include the round trip hydrofoil from Sorrento to Capri which is approximately 40 euro per person. - As there are many options on Capri, there are no tickets or admissions included in this tour. - Food and beverages are also not included in the tour cost. - Please note there is a holiday supplement to run this tour on Christmas Day or New Years Day. - If you choose to visit Anacapri it will cost approximately 20 euro per person. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
