Santo Domingo is famed to be the oldest city in the Americas. On this tour, your guide will escort you to this enchanting city's most significant and captivating sites. The Dominican Republic’s rich history and abundant beauty take center stage here, and you are sure to leave with a deep appreciation for Santo Domingo’s bold spirit.

Your day will take you to sites all over Santo Domingo. No trip to the city is complete without a visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor, the oldest cathedral in all the Americas. Completed in 1540, its vaulted ceilings and gold-tinted façade distinguish it as one of the Caribbean’s greatest treasures. Another prominent attraction is the home of Cristopher Columbus’ son, Diego Columbus. Containing an unparalleled tapestry collection and a number of extravagant gardens and courtyards, this home still holds onto its former glory.

Of course, you’ll venture into the heart of the Colonial Zone to meander up and down La Atarazana Street. Colorful, bustling, and centuries old, La Atarazana Street is home to one of the oldest neighborhoods in the Western Hemisphere. Now filled with businesses, shops, and restaurants, La Atarazana is among the most charming streets you’ll encounter anywhere.

To give you a sense of the island’s tremendous beauty, you’ll also descend into the Three Eyes Cave, an open-air limestone cave that spans fifty yards. The cave’s three lakes are fed by an underground river, and their depths remain unknown.

In addition to these visits, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the National Palace, Malecon Avenue, Plaza de la Cultura and the enormous Columbus Lighthouse.

A lunch featuring local fare is included in the tour. Be sure to bring long pants and sleeves in order to enter the cathedral.

- Entrance fees and lunch at a local restaurant are included in the price of the tour. A soda/water is included with lunch but any alcoholic beverages will have to be purchased separately.
