Overview
Focus on the tastes, scenes and sounds of Mykonos in scenic settings.
This tour is only available to groups of 10 or more, an incentive to gather some friends and enjoy!
Begin with a greeting from your guide and a transfer of 15 minutes from the pier to Mykonos Town, where you will visit the Fabrika area. Gathering around your guide, you will enjoy a walk through the labyrinth of narrow streets where you will make your first stop at the Old Bakery of Gioras. A mouthful of warm, fresly made "koulouri", a local sesame bun, is a perfect way to begin your tour. This walk will take you past the areas of "the three wells' and "Matoyinanni" where all the famous shops are located as well as Paraportinani church. This is the most popular and most photographed of the 400 churches located on Mykonos. The construction is an asymmetrical conglomeration of 4 churches into one. Each "church" has a different style, from the outside your guide will point out the Byzantine, vernacular, traditional and western differences that are bridged together making this a true architectural phenomenon.
Continuing on, you will pass the open air fish and vegetable markets with local produce to see. Your walk continues along the waterfront where many cafes and restaurants are located and here you will make another stop at a traditional pastry shop to taste another local sweet, "amygdaloto" along with a local drink called "soumada".
Now that you have had a taste of Mykonos Town, reboard your bus and continue the tour on a driver to an unusual Asimomitis Winery and Vineyards. Mr. Asimomitis, the man with the vision, believes that by playing classical music to his wines, he increases the flavor and the character of the bottles. You can be the judge as you will taste 3 different wines, a red, a white, and a sweet, together with fresh homemade local products and breads.
Under the sounds of classical music you will be given the insight into the vineyard and the grapes he harvests. Following your visit to the winery, you will return to the ship fulfilled with the tastes, smells and the sounds of real Mykonial life.
