The town is known for its wonderful scenery as well as its position as one of Sicily's chicest resort towns. This is a gorgeous town with a romantic atmosphere and plenty of excellent restaurants, bars, shopping and plazas to relax and enjoy a cappuccino. You will also want to visit the Teatro Greco, the most impressive monument of the city. Built in the 3rd-century BC, the Teatro is still used today for open-air concerts. Next you are on to Savoca, the filming location for the Corleone scenes in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather II! Visit the Bar Vitelli, where the character Michael asked the padrone for his daughter's hand in marriage, and enjoy one of their famous "granitas." After that, if you're feeling brave, pay a visit to the catacomb that lies beneath the Convent of the Frati Minori Cappuccini! - The price of this tour does not include the 8€ per person admission to the Greek Theater. - It is a 1 hour drive from Messina to Taormina. - If you choose the licensed guide option, he/she will meet you in Taormina and spend 2 hours covering the sites you wish to visit. - Please contact ShoreTrips if you are traveling with a wheelchair.
