Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Friendly service. Great staff. Clean rooms. We enjoyed our free nights stay. It seems Distinction is a common chain throughout NZ (which we didn't know at the time). Our stay here will ensure that when we go back to NZ we will look for Distinction hotels. We certainly recommend you consider doing the same.

Review:   Bit of a dated hotel but comfortable. Pool is closed in winter months. Areas of the hotel are walls of single pane glass and can get very cold in winter months. Lakefront views are spectacular.

Review:   Great location on lake front. Staff very pleasant but service at restaurant was poor. The starters were not what was ordered and there was a long wait for the main course. We booked for 7.30 and didn't get the mains served until 8.50. The food was tasty and good but it was too late to enjoy it.

Review:   Excellent view of the lake right across the road. Staff very helpful; I got sick one night there and they were able to extend my stay by a day when I asked them about an hour before I was due to leave, no issues at all. Room was quite comfortable. Restaurant was a bit pretentious and pricey. There's a thin line between creating atmosphere and just leaving the lights off to save on power or something.
