Overview
You'll get an up-close-and-personal view of this magnificent city as you traverse it on foot.
Your professional guide will help you appreciate the beauty, culture, and history of Florence and make the most of your time in this wonderful city.
This fascinating walking tour begins with a visit to the Accademia, where Michelangelo’s most famous statue,
David, has been housed since 1873, when the sculpture was moved from its previous outdoor location on Piazza della Signoria.
Next, we'll make our way to the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, the Duomo of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Florence. This cathedral, the third to be built in Florence, was the largest in Europe when it was completed, with room for 30,000 people. Brunelleschi's most famous masterpiece is noted for its high, octagonal-ribbed dome.
Our tour continues with a visit to Piazza della Signoria, the city’s political center and a true open-air museum featuring the Palazzo Vecchio (Florence's city hall), the Loggia, and many ancient statues. It is a meeting place for locals, as well as tourists.
- Tickets to the Accademia are about 20.00€ per ticket per person. (NOTE: Closed on Mondays.) You will pay this fee in cash directly to the guide at the time of the tour.
- If your group has time, you may have the opportunity to go Santa Croce. The entrance fees for Santa Croce are 8 Euro for adults (over 18) and 6 Euro for teenagers (ages 11-18). Children (under 11) are free. You may also have the opportunity to go into the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (closed the first Tuesday of every month). The entrance fees for individuals over the age of 11 is 18 Euro, 5 Euro for children between the ages of 6-11 and free for children under age 6.
- Please note that pre-reserved tickets are non-refundable. If you don't use your reserved tickets, you will still be charged the full cost of the ticket.
- Please note that on the first Sunday of each month many tourist sites in Italy have free admission. This can often result in long lines. If you are staying at a hotel, it may be beneficial to avoid booking a tour involving inside visits to major attractions on these days. If you have questions, contact ShoreTrips.
- On Mondays, some museums, including the Accademia, are closed. You may instead visit Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.
- This tour does not include transportation from the cruise ship pier in Livorno to Florence. Please see our offerings in "Livorno" if you require transportation from the cruise ship.
