Whistler And Shannon Falls TourExplore > Canada > British Columbia > Whistler And Shannon Falls TourOverviewVisit a few of British Columbia's outdoor playgrounds. You will be whisked away to a mountain paradise via the breathtaking Sea-To-Sky Highway. Along the way, stops will be made to enjoy the view and may include locations such as Porteau Cove, Britannia Beach, Brandywine Falls, and, of course, Shannon Falls. Shannon Falls is composed of a series of cliffs rising to almost 1,100 feet. A boardwalk leads to a viewing platform near the base of the roaring falls. From here you can gaze up the smooth sides of the granite walls over which the falls foam and tumble. The next stop for your day is the quaint village of Whistler. In 2010, countries from across the globe competed in the Mountain Sports of the Winter Olympics here. The resort of Whistler was, in fact, born on an Olympic dream. Franz Wilhelmsen, the man who opened Whistler for skiing in the 1960s, did so in the hopes of hosting the Games here. Today, Whistler has become more of a cosmopolitan village that provides an endless choice of intriguing galleries, delicious eateries, and, of course, an abundance of shops. There will be plenty of time for a nature hike by the lake or a short bike ride on a nearby trail. For the truly adventurous, a gondola ride to the top of Whistler Mountain is a must. The views from the top are spectacular. By late afternoon, you'll be sad to leave this picturesque place. If you weren't overwhelmed by the beautiful views on the way to Whistler, the panorama of sights you'll experience overlooking Howe Sound on the ride back to Vancouver definitely will impress you. - Food, beverages, and the gondola ride are not included in the price of this tour. - Bike rentals are available at several locations. - You will be accompanied on a 20-minute walk to the base of Shannon Falls.
