Kaohsiung is an emerging Global City marked by natural beauty, cosmopolitan flair, and a fascinating history.
You will start off your day with a walking tour along Love River, one of the most important geographic features of the city. Love River is the backbone of the city, a critical component of its economic and cultural success. Your walking tour will give you an opportunity to take in the beauty of the natural landscape, along with the modern feel of the city. As you stroll down the river, your guide will point out notable sites and fill you in on the history of this up-and-coming city.
From here, you’ll visit the Martyrs’ Shrine, which was originally Kaohsiung Shrine during the Japanese occupation of the island. The shrine is a significant landmark in Kaohsiung, both because it commemorates the fallen soldiers of Chinese Nationalism and because it is a reminder of the Japanese occupation of the island.
