Evita Highlights Tour With Pier/Hotel TransfersExplore > Argentina > Buenos Aires > Evita Highlights Tour With Pier/Hotel TransfersOverviewThis historical journey honors the remarkable life of Eva Peron, Argentina’s beloved First Lady. This fascinating tour of Buenos Aires leads us to the most important places in Eva Peron's life. Maria Eva Duarte was born in rural Argentina in 1919 and, just 15 years later, she made her way to the nation's capital, Buenos Aires, where she pursued a career as a stage, radio, and film actress. Eva met Colonel Juan Peron in 1944 at a charity event in San Juan, and the two were married the following year. In 1946, Juan was elected President of Argentina and thus began one of the most important and tragic stories in Argentine political history. Eva served as the First Lady of Argentina until her death from cancer in 1952. She was just 33 years old. Your tour begins in the center of Argentine history--Plaza de Mayo--where you'll see the balcony that Eva used for her speeches to the people, the Facultad Ingeneria (University of Engineering), the Ministerio Correo Central (main post office), and Ministerio de Obras Publicas (ministry of public works). At each location, you'll hear about the significance of these sights and how they affected Eva's life. Next, we'll pass by the Congress Building, where Eva witnessed Juan's second swearing-in just days before her death. It is here where she lay in state for days on end while her faithful stood in line to get one last glimpse of their heroine. Now it's on to the Evita Museum for a one-hour visit. Dedicated to Argentina's beloved First Lady, the museum features videos, photos, and clippings, in addition to such prized memorabilia as her wardrobe, shoes, handbags, hats, and even her perfumes. Finally, we'll travel to the Recoleta Cemetery to see her monument and visit the Duarte mausoleum, where Eva found her eternal rest. - At the time of booking, you will be prompted to indicate your pickup and drop-off locations. - Please note the guided visit to the Evita Museum will be shared with others. The other portions of the tour are private. - The Evita Museum is closed on Mondays. Days offered: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Departures:
