Environmental best practice technology has been optimised in all operational aspects of the generation of power, and the treatment of water and sewerage, with the aim of creating minimal environmental impact. Committed to conservation, Wildman is the ultimate 'recycled resort', and how it came into being is a story on an epic scale. When Wrotham Park (located 300kms west of Cairns) closed in 2009, its infrastructure was dismantled, loaded onto 18 triple road trains and transported 2800kms across Australia. Once unloaded in their new setting on the Mary River Wetlands, the buildings formed a new site of sophisticated accommodation that is now the unique Wildman Wilderness Lodge.

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   This is great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the NT up close. It’s a relatively close drive from Darwin. My Wife and I stayed there over Easter weekend and really enjoyed getting out of Darwin and being pampered by staff at the lodge. We booked the room with aircon since it was still pretty hot, but the tents look like the way to go during the dry season. We will be back for sure.

Review:   We loved spending Easter weekend out at Wildman. The accomodations were absolutely lovely. We stayed in an Eco lodge, it was a gorgeous room with a wonderful view. The staff were very friendly, and went out of there way to make sure were had fun. The soup every night at dinner was the best part about the food. The lodge runs completely off the grid which is pretty impressive, you can tell why it’s pricey when you see what an operation it is. That being said I think for the price the breakfast needs to be a bit better. Also, there is a bar area with air conditioning. There was tons of kids in the bar area over Easter because it was soooo hot. While this is ok, I think it would be good if they had a game room and a bar area that were both air conditioned. This way they can have games, maybe billiards or something and a bar for adults. I think it would make sense because it’s both a family place and obviously a place for couples.
