Overview

Three famous cultural attractions grouped together for a ShoreTrips EXCLUSIVE tour.

This is a wonderful way to spend a day in Jamaica. This trio of cultural attractions has never been presented as a tour before and I am really excited about the opportunity to bring everything together.

This tour includes:
- Private, round trip transportation from the cruise ship pier or your hotel
- Scenic drive through the Jamaican countryside
- Visit to a pottery factory
- Exploration of Coyaba River Garden and Museum
- Stop at Rio Nuevo Battle Site
- Shopping opportunities

This will be a very relaxing day driving through the Jamaican countryside, up hills and through glorious valleys (perhaps through Fern Gully, if time permits).

Our first destination is Wassi Art Pottery Works, a factory where Jamaica's famous pottery is made. The road to this workshop is rough, but you'll be glad that you endured a few bumps once you see these beautiful creations. Here, you can meet the artists, watch them create ceramics and paint them, and even purchase some of their wares. The helpful staff will mail your selections home. That's right...no duty, no schlepping, no breakage!

Next, we'll stop at Coyaba River Garden and Museum. Coyaba means "paradise" in the ancient Arawak language, and you'll find it to be a very appropriate name. Flowering plants and trees, a genuine water garden, giant banyan and cedar trees, a spectacular waterfall, and a natural aquarium filled with koi carp, mullet, snappers, and turtles are all to be found here. Coyaba also has a fine stand of Bauhina trees, known as Poor Man's Orchid because of the hundreds of blossoms that look like smallish, pinkish-purplish orchid blooms.

Lastly, we'll visit Rio Nuevo Battle Site, where the fierce battle between the English and the Spanish occurred in 1658. It was the final fight between the two colonial powers for control of the island. Following many excavations, experts recovered musket balls, cannon balls, old bottles, and other artifacts that are on view at the Rio Nuevo Battle Site Museum.

- Admission fees are not included in the price of this tour and should be about $15 per person. Please bring cash.
- The order of the sites may vary. You will see everything mentioned, but perhaps in a different order.
- This tour is private.

- This trip requires a minimum of 4 people.
