Overview
Ease of traffic will allow you to enjoy more sites as you pedal away, in and out of the old walls.
Some European cities have intense traffic and the thought of biking can be frightening, but Tallinn has a magic and it also has lots of nooks and crannies. This bike tour covers the Old Town, as well as the newer urban landscape of the city. This is a unique experience--and a little exercise never hurt anybody.
The magic may not be apparent when you disembark, but this is one of the more mystical and lovely cities on your itinerary. By bike, you'll avoid the crowded tourist streets and cruise through less busy smaller Old Town lanes to the Main Square in the Medieval City. Well-preserved cathedrals and towers surround the city and each seems to hold a story.
Our biking begins outside of the walls as we make our way to Kadriorg Park, the location of the Kadriorg Palace, Peter the Great's humble cottage, and the KUMU Modern Art Museum. The Foreign Art Museum is also located here. Peter the Great made multiple visits to Tallinn and, when you visit this lovely park, it's easy to see why. The close proximity to water also made the location a favorite.
As you pedal, you'll see the huge Song Arch, where Estonians sang of their independence, and get a sense of their daily life as you ride through residential neighborhoods.
Expect to see Kadriorg Palace, Presidential Palace, Song Ground Festival area, Fat Margaret's Tower, Town Wall, St. Olav Church, Town Hall Square, Tallinn Town Hall, Town Hall Pharmacy, World War II Memorial, St. Bridget Convent, Pirita Beach, Olympic Centre, and more of Tallinn than most ever do. You'll also have 30-45 minutes of free time for shopping and/or exploring in the Old Town.
