Private Guided Tour Of Old And New TallinnExplore > Estonia > Private Guided Tour Of Old And New TallinnOverviewBecome acquainted with the history and attractions of Tallinn by walking and driving with our guide. Behind each door of this medieval town is a fascinating--and extremely complicated--history. Luckily, your guide will sort it all out for you as you explore one impressive site after another. This combined driving and walking tour will introduce you to the medieval city of Tallinn, while also showing you the more modern side of the culture. Your guide will be an excellent source of information as you walk the narrow cobblestone streets of the Old Town. View the ancient walls and all that they encircle. Among the highlights here are the apothecary (which opened in 1422), the Great Guild House, Holy Ghost Church, and the 15th century Gothic Town Hall. These structures, as well as the stories that originate here, are all incredibly fascinating. Next, we'll take a drive to Kadriorg Park, home to Kadriorg Palace, a magnificent northern baroque palace, which Russian czar Peter the Great had built for his wife, Catherine I, in 1718, and Kadriorg Art Museum, where hundreds of 16th-20th century paintings by Western and Russian artists, as well as prints, sculptures, and other works, are displayed. This is an area that Peter the Great loved. It was here that he lived in a humble cottage while the palace was under construction. We'll also visit the Song Festival Ground, where national song festivals are held. Driving through the residential areas full of well-designed private homes is eye-opening and will lead us to Pirita Marina, the former site of Olympic yachting and host of many international competitions. Before heading back to the cruise ship port, we'll make a brief stop at St. Bridget's Convent, which dates back to the 15th century. On our return trip, we'll also take a peek at the not-to-be-missed St. Catherine's Arts and Crafts Center on the grounds of the Dominican Convent. - Please dress for the weather and wear flat, comfortable walking shoes as the cobblestones make walking difficult. - Admissions, snacks, beverages, and any other extras are not included in the price of this tour. - The entrance fee to St. Bridget's Convent is approximately €1 per person. - Please Note: Some sites (such as churches) may be closed to visitors on Sundays and holidays. Alternate sites will be recommended when necessary. - Please note that this tour excludes the Upper Town. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
