Visit Cefalù, one of the Mediterranean's undiscovered jewels.
Travel to Cefalù, one of the Mediterranean's undiscovered jewels.
A medieval seaside town built on the site of an ancient Sicilian and Greek settlement, Cefalù is home to narrow, winding medieval streets, great restaurants overlooking the rocky coast, and the ruins of a large fortress and an ancient Sicanian-Greek temple.
Spend some time exploring the historical city center, and then make your way to the famous Cefalù Cathedral, begun in 1131. This Norman-Arab-Byzantine cathedral is considered one of the greatest churches of southern Europe, and was one of the first Sicilian cathedrals built on the Western model. The exterior is quite well preserved.
Cefalù is also home to some great restaurants, and at some point you will stop for lunch at a great one that your guide can recommend. Taste the seafood and other local specialties, and then spend the rest of the afternoon shopping and wandering the quaint streets of this lovely town.
This tour is with a wonderful English-speaking driver-guide. Entrance fees and the cost of lunch are not included in this price.
Lunch will cost about 30€ per person.
