River Cruise To The Meeting Of The WatersExplore > Brazil > Manaus > River Cruise To The Meeting Of The WatersOverviewCruise down the Rio Negro to the meeting of Rio Negro and Rio Solimões. Manaus, the capital of the Brazilian State of Amazonas, is located on the northern bank of the Rio Negro. It is the gateway city to the largest tropical forest of the planet, The Amazon Forest, and is also a busy commercial center. Depart by Riverboat from the the Floating Docks, the world's largest floating port that was specially devised to avoid flooding. It was built by the English in 1903, keeping in mind the annual rise and fall of the Rio Negro. Sail down the Rio Negro, passing by the native houses built on stilts, the wards of local boats, and floating gas stations and ice factory, down to the meeting of Rio Negro with Rio Solimões, the birth place of the mighty Amazon River. Watch the phenomenon of two rivers meeting, without their waters (light brown Rio Solimões and black Rio Negro) mixing. For miles and miles they flow side by side. Continue to Lake January, an ecological Park situated between the two rivers. Lake January is full of the giant water lilies that Manaus is famous for. Board smaller boats with outboard motors for a ride through the small tributaries and flooded creeks. Afterwards, you will head back to the port by Riverboat. This tour includes transportation by regioal boats and a great English-speaking local guide. Water is included onabord the boat. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
