The Istrian wine region boasts a Mediterranean climate, abundant plant life, and outstanding wines. You will visit Istrian inland--a quiet, hilly area covered with beautiful vineyards. Hardworking local people have been growing vines for centuries, which has resulted in distinct and acknowledged Istrian wines.
Gently rolling hills, which Istria abounds in, are ideal for wine-growing, especially slopes exposed to the sun. Additionally, the greater oscillation between day and night temperature contributes to the pronounced intensity of the wines produced in this region. Among the numerous varieties found in this area, the most important is the Istrian white Malvazija. It is found thoughout Istria, making it an inseparable part of this region's identity. The wine has a pale gold color; a pleasing aroma of locust tree blossoms; a harmonious, delicate freshness; and needed structure. Teran is typical of Istria just as well, a wine with a color ranging from purple to ruby-red, of lively fruit aroma, pronouncedly fresh, and less structured.
A visit to an Istrian cellar, with a short lecture on the production of Istrian wines, is also included in this tour.
