This is the perfect tour for those who want an in-depth visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima.
Your day begins with a drive northeast of Lisbon to visit Fátima and its sanctuary. This is the site where Our Lady of Fátima, The Blessed Virgin Mary, appeared six times to three shepherd children between May 13 and October 13, 1917. She came to the little village of Fatima, which had remained faithful to the Catholic Church during persecutions by the government. Though your driver is not a licensed guide, he/she can give you some limited information about the area.
Since then, millions of people have made pilgrimages to this shrine to pray, pay their respects, and feel its mystical strength. As a testament to the attraction of Fatima, the Sanctuary Square is designed to handle up to 300,000 visitors at one time and is twice the size of St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
After visiting the sanctuary, you will have some time on your own before heading back to Lisbon.
- Cruise ship passengers will be met at the cruise terminal by a representative of the tour company, who will then escort you to your touring vehicle, about a 5-10 minute walk from the pier. Hotel guests will be picked up at their hotel.
- This tour does not include a licensed guide, rather an English speaking driver. Please refer back to our list of tours to do this with a guide.
- Food, beverages, entrance fees, and optional gratuities are not included in the price of this tour. Currently there are no entrance fees to Fatima.
