The Wines Of Nova Scotia: A Custom TourExplore > Canada > Nova Scotia > The Wines Of Nova Scotia: A Custom TourOverviewA sampling of Nova Scotia’s wines and cheeses. Nova Scotia’s small, but growing, wine industry improves each year, and the pride and persistence of the province’s boutique wineries are paying off. Join us as we sample the best wines of the Maritimes, and some superb cheeses and liqueurs, as well. This tour includes: - Round trip transportation from the pier - Private guide and vehicle - Scenic drive - Wine, cheese, and liqueur tasting - Visit 4 different wineries and an herb garden - "Choose your own adventure" at end of tour, time permitting As we leave the port of Halifax, we'll drive west towards the Bay of Fundy coast, traveling through forest to the northern end of the famous Annapolis Valley, which is the agricultural heart of Nova Scotia and the pulse of the region’s wine industry. It takes just 75 minutes to reach our first winery, and the scenery (autumn colors in season!) guarantees that it won’t be a boring drive. Time permitting, we’ll visit at least four of the best estate wineries on our tour--Gaspereau, Blomidon, Benjamin Bridge, and Avondale Sky. At each of these wineries, you’ll enjoy complimentary tastings, including an extended special series of tastings at the Gaspereau Estate Winery, where wines will be paired with local cheeses and chocolates. The wines of the province typically feature grape varietals with which you are likely unfamiliar, including l’Acadie Blanc, Seyval Blanc, Muscat, Ortega, and Baco Noir, so there is much for you to discover. At the conclusion of this memorable tour, you'll be returned to the cruise ship pier with your wine purchases safely in hand. Cheers! Or "slainte," as they say in the highlands of Nova Scotia. - Please note: All tour times are local port times. - Please be aware that most Carnival Ships do not adjust to local time when in port. The actual time will be +1 from ship time. Please double-check with your cruise line. - Water will be provided. - Nova Scotia has a maritime climate, producing weather that is changeable, cool, and moist. Temperatures on this trip will rarely exceed 75 F (25 C), and may be much cooler in the autumn. It is usually breezy (or windy) along the coast. - Dress in layers, and remove or add them during the trip as required. - In groups of 6, one traveler will not have a window seat. - This tour involves tastings. You'll be able to sample wines and cheeses in limited quantities. - This is a private tour, so if you wish to alter the itinerary “on the fly” it will often be possible to do so, though we have set times for our tastings. We will try to be as flexible as possible. - The tour vehicle is not adapted for wheelchair use, but if a wheelchair user is able to transfer to and from a minivan seat, the tour itinerary can be modified accordingly. The wineries are accessible, including their restrooms. The guide has experience working with limited mobility clients. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
