Your tour begins with a relaxing drive to the beautiful city of Aix En Provence. Once you arrive, enjoy a walking tour of the historical city to discover the famous Cours Mirabeau, the several fountains and ancient monuments.
You will see the Cathedral, an architectural melting pot blending Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles, and supposedly built on a temple of Apollo. Visit the squares surrounding the place de la Mairie, and palace of the Palace of Justice. Explore the many mansions of the Mazarin Quarter, and of course the famous Cours Mirabeau, a tunnel of greenery punctuated with fountains, where the leading families of the nobility built elegant homes to show off their success.
By now you've probably worked up an appetite. Your guide will have several suggestions for lunch.
After lunch, you will continue on to Marseille, an often overlooked city. The first stop will be a visit to Notre Dame de la Garde. Much-cherished by the locals, this 19th Century basilica will offer you an exceptional view of the phocean city, the Frioul Islands, and the If Castle. While you are up top enjoying the view, your guide will enhance your experience with a brief history of Marseille, details about the monuments that you are seeing, and, of course, some fascinating facts about the basilica itself. You will have ample time to visit the church and enjoy the view, as well as take as many pictures as you like.
Please keep in mind that you may stop at any point during the tour; just let your guide know!
