Overview
History comes alive during this fascinating tour filled with amazing architecture and WINE!
After a drive through the forest of Les Maures, full of cork oaks, we'll arrive at Thoronet Abbey, which may be considered one of the jewels of Cistercian architecture. Founded during the 12th century in a small valley, this Abbey has stood for centuries with hardly any changes and now stands in the midst of a peaceful countryside. Visit the church, built in the style of Provencal Romanesque, the cloister, and the monks' wing.
After a short drive, we'll come to les Arcs sur Argens, a Provencal medieval village. Here, you'll enjoy lunch (additional cost) served in a restaurant located in the village's 12th century castle.
Next, we're on to the wine tasting, complete with several varieties of "Côte de Provence," which is becoming more and more valuable. An "Oënologue" will tell you all the secrets of the wine as you discover for yourself the quality and the wide variety of wines. Learn how to appreciate a Côte de Provence wine, assessing it through its colour, bouquet, and aromas.
