Private Half Day Walking Tour Of NiceExplore > France > Nice > Private Half Day Walking Tour Of NiceOverviewNice art tour with a highly qualified guide. This tour is offered by a small association of selected tour guides, most of whom are certified as well by the ministry of culture (besides being tour guides, they are also guide lecturers and/or have some university qualification). They are especially demanding in regards to the quality of their work, and the ways in which they share their country's culture and history with visitors. This tour takes you to the main points of interest of Old Nice with some of the most qualified guides around, giving you the opportunity to understand the history and culture of the city as it has developed over the centuries: the harbor, rich with history; the once-royal Garibaldi Square, and the Opera House, are some of the places you will visit. Discover the beauty of the Old City's baroque churches. Listen as your guides explain what baroque style meant and why it was so important for the Catholic Church. Learn about the tradition of the penitent brotherhoods, still alive and well in Nice - perhaps even get a chance to meet one and enter one of their private chapels! The inside of the Misericorde Chapel, for example, is considered to be one of the ten most beautiful examples of baroque decor among specialists in the field. Civilian townhouses are also of great interest, and you will have the opportunity to enter one of the most richly decorated ones. Built in the 17th century by the prestigious Lascaris family, this house boasts a rich facade and traditional Nice architecture, as well as a touch of fantasy brought by its trompe l'oeil (painted decor). Of course, no visit to Nice would be complete without a visit to the flower market, or some gastronomic references. See how the typical socca (savoury chick pea pancake) is served, and perhaps even taste some! Other Nicoise specialities can be found in several areas fo the city, and you may want to stop at one of these places for lunch after the tour is over - a way to enjoy, for a little longer, the magic of Nice! You may choose to either take a 20 minute walk or take a taxi to the starting point of this tour. If you choose to take a taxi, the ride will be about 15 minutes and cost from 20 to 25€ (approximately $25-$30) each way for up to 4 people. Please keep in mind that the order of this tour is flexible, and depends on what you and your guide decide! Food and drink are not included in the price of this tour. As it is a private chapel, visits to the Misericorde Chapel are only possible on Tuesdays. The Lascaris family townhouse is closed on Mondays. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
