The Beauty Of Cassis And Calanques Boat TourExplore > France > Marseille > The Beauty Of Cassis And Calanques Boat TourOverviewTour the big city and then a lovely resort town - a perfect contrast. Pass through the city of Marseille and along the coastal road on your relaxing one hour drive to the beautiful seaside town of Cassis and the "Calanques" (deep narrow creeks). Enjoy the scenic coastline between Marseille and Cassis, craggy and indented with a landscape of sharp ridges, overhanging limestone cliffs, pine-surrounded creeks and pleasant fields of grapevines. When you reach Cassis you will have time to explore the village. Stroll along the Promenade des Lombards, which borders the sea front, and enjoy the view of the surrounding sea and small beaches dominated by a 14th century castle. Take some free time for shopping in the boutiques or relaxing at one of the many waterfront cafés, and perhaps even take the opportunity to have a swim at the beach (although please keep in mind that they can be quite crowded during the summer months). Or, choose to take the 3 calanques boat trip to see the nicest of the calanques! There are departures every 15 minutes. On the way back you will drive along "La Gineste," which will afford you a wonderful view of the Islands of Marseille. Pass the Le Corbusier building and continue along the "Corniche" Road, before coming to Notre Dame de la Garde, the 19th century basilica on the top of the hill of la Garde. Only a short distance from there, you will arrive at the Old Port and Canebière Avenue, where you will have a little free time for shopping (time permitting). At some point, we recommend a stop for a bouillabaisse lunch, which is not included. This fish stew was created in Marseilles and there are standards a provider must follow to be able to claim the dish a true bouillabaisse. We have not included lunch or the cost of the boat trip to the Calanques, which may be purchased during the tour time (3 calanques boat tour is 11€ per person). Please keep in mind that the order of this tour is approximate. Your guide will adapt to the rhythms and interests of your group, so please let her know of any special questions or interests that you may have. This trip requires a minimum of 4 passengers to run. The maximum number that can be accommodated is 6 per vehicle. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
