Private: Walking Tour Of Jewish And General PalmaExplore > Spain > Palma De Mallorca > Private: Walking Tour Of Jewish And General PalmaOverviewDiscover Palma De Mallorca through its hidden Jewish History. I am certain you will get caught up in this city's amazing history! Palma De Mallorca's Jewish history proves to be one of the most interesting cultural backstories in all of Spain. Referred to as the Xuetas or "Crypto-Jews" this social group was forced into the acceptance of Catholicism in fear of persecution from the Spanish Inquisition. Keeping their practice of Judaism private the Xuetas lived for centuries in their own quarters while developing a "secret" community. This tour will not forget the main highlights of Palma as you walk through the history filled streets. With the Palma Cathedral you will see one of the can't miss sites in the area that took 372 years to complete. This symbol of the old city is a time capsule of artistic styles dating back to the middle ages. Not too far away is the Almudaina Palace which served as the cities Citadel back in 123 BC. After years of take overs and live in Majorcan Kings the palace started to fade as a fortress and now represents an example of rustic architecture that has survived a long list of historical events. In the Plaza El Cort and Placa d'Espana you will see the heart of the current city. Your trip will come full circle as you check out sites from an 1000 year old peace tree to Palma's city hall. This excursion is the perfect way to get up close and personal with this pedestrian friendly city! - Lunch is not included in the price of this tour. - You will have to take a taxi to and from the center of town. Approximate price each way is €15. If you are located in a city center hotel, you will be met at your hotel. - There is a €8 entrance fee for the Palma Cathedral - This tour is a walking tour, so please wear comfortable shoes. - This tour is not wheelchair accesible.
