OverviewCome along and enjoy the ride! The first inhabitant of the island was Prince Zakynthos, the son of King Dardanos of Troy, who arrived here between 1500 and 1600 B.C. As with much of Greece and its islands, its history includes fascinating stories that blend mythology and fact. It is said that it was here during the 6th century B.C. that silver currency was established. One of the more interesting relatable facts concerns the French Revolution in 1789. It was during this time that the Zakynthians brought the ideals of social equity and justice to the island. On July 4, 1797, the French democratic flag was raised on the castle of Zakynthos. Discrimination was abolished and schools for all children were established. The island is on the small side and the terrain is beautiful, so a panoramic tour is the perfect idea here. Stops will be made along the way allowing you to see some remaining sites, as well as scenic views. In particular, we will visit Anafonitria village, where you will see the Monastery of the Virgin Hyperagathos and enjoy some local snacks. - This price of this tour includes a private vehicle, an English-speaking guide, and snacks at Anafonitria village. - Groups of 2 people will be transported in a pre-booked Mercedes taxi. Please note that while the vehicles are used primarily for private tours and transfer services, it is the law for the meter to be on and for the vehicle to have a taxi sign on top. You will not be expected to pay the meter. - Please note that the Sunday Supplement also applies to the following Public Holidays in 2020: January 1; March 2nd; March 25th, April 17th-19th; May 1st; June 8th; August 15th; October 28th and December 25th and 26th. - Supplement is per group and not per person.
