Overview
Learn about the rich Jewish community that once existed on Rhodes.
After being picked up from the cruise ship pier, you will begin your tour. Embark on this tour with the most knowledgeable driver in Rhodes - he is not a licensed guide, but you will think he is because he knows more than anyone else around!
Throughout much of its history Rhodes had a thriving Jewish Community. During World War II, Nazi Germany occupied the island and deported the Jews. A remnant of the Jewish community still survives on the island, however, and this tour focuses on those interesting sights.
Visit the Jewish Quarter, "La Juderia," with the Square of the Martyred Jews, as well as the "Kahal Shalom" Synagogue and the Rhodes Jewish Museum, which maintains a history of the community. You will also stop at the Jewish Cemetery in the new city - the best preserved in Europe.
The tour will also cover several highlights of the Rhodes Old Town, New Town and Lindos (35 miles from Rhodes town).
The price of this tour does not include any food, drink, entrance fees, or gratuities.
We have noted that this is not available on Saturdays. It may be that on some Shabbats, they will allow visitors but we cannot be certain. This will also include Jewish holidays.
ShoreTrips and our partners do our best to insure that every stop described is available for your visit. There are some times when a site or building is closed at the last moment with little to no warning. We assume that those in charge make those decisions based on external information and for the visitors' safety and we apologize when this causes inconvenience and disappointment.
