This tour includes: • Round trip transfer from cruise ship terminal to ferry dock • Ferry ride to Delos • Private guide • Tour of archaeological site • Entrance fees for Delos • Lots of incredible photo opportunities! Your adventure begins with a ferry ride from Mykonos to the island of Delos. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a 30-minute ride to the west side of the island, which leads directly to the entrance to one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Delos--a large, fascinating archaeological site revered in ancient times as the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis--is now home to numerous unique archaeological monuments. Its many ancient remains include such impressive works as the Great Temple of Apollo and the Terrace of the Lions. Join your licensed guide for an approximately two hour tour of the site, including the Lions Walk, the Naxos marble lions, and the ruins of three temples consecrated to Apollo. Of special interest are the houses and workshops, some of which have amazing mosaics still visible, such as the House of the Dolphins. The importance of the island's history started to unfold in 1877, when the French Archaeological School started their first official excavations on the island. Over 100 years later, in 1990, UNESCO included Delos in the World Heritage List as an "exceptionally extensive and rich" archaeological site. Today, in the island's Archaeological Museum, visitors may admire a significant collection of sculptures, ceramic vessels, epigraphs, mosaic floors, and other excavation findings. Photo opportunities abound during your amazing day of discovery! • The site of Delos will be explored on foot. Please wear low-heeled, comfortable shoes, and bring a hat and bottled water. • The price of this tour includes transfers from the cruise terminal to the ferry to Delos, a private guide for the whole duration of the tour, a ferry ticket, and entrance fees for Delos. • There is an additional charge for entrance to the Archaeological Museum.
