Overview
The picturesque countryside will be the background for the culture of Delft and history of windmills
This tour begins by taking you away from Rotterdam, only to return you for a Rotterdam city tour at the end.
First, we'll travel to see the renowned Kinderdijk Windmills. Located just 16 kilometers from Rotterdam, this village is the site of 19 original windmills dating from the 1500s. Enter a windmill and see how it functions.
Our tour continues by crossing the river Lek (a branch of the Rhine) on a local ferry boat on the way to the medieval quaint city of Gouda, where world-famous stained glass windows are made by the brothers Crabeth. You'll take a short walking tour with your guide to the prettiest market square in Holland with its beautiful town hall and weigh house, where they used to weigh the Gouda cheese in the 17th century.
Next, we'll travel to Delft for a visit to the Royal Delft Pottery Factory for a memorable tour of the museum, factory, and gift shop. Perhaps you'll decide to paint your own tile for a wonderful remembrance of your time here.
Ready for a lunch break, your guide will direct you to options that are available in the city center of Delft.
During this tour, which passes through some of the most picturesque Dutch countryside, you'll hear a lot of history about William of Orange, also called William the Silent, and you'll walk in the footsteps of Johannes Vermeer, who lived and worked here all his life!
We'll give you a scenic city tour of Rotterdam before returning you to the cruise ship pier.
