A Taste Of Amsterdam And Its SurroundingsExplore > Netherlands > Amsterdam > A Taste Of Amsterdam And Its SurroundingsOverviewGet to know not only Amsterdam, but the villages, too! Volendam, Marken, Broek in Waterland & more! This tour includes: - Round trip transportation from the cruise ship pier - Private vehicle with English speaking driver/guide - Tour of Jacobs Hoeve - Fishing Village of Volendam - Marken - Broek in Waterland - Anne Frank House We will take a lovely drive out to the rural areas north of Amsterdam. See "Jacobs Hoeve", an authentic cheese farm that makes absolutely delicious, mouth watering Gouda and Edam farmer's cheese. You'll get a private explanation and tour, showing you the interesting process cheese go through prior to ending up on the shelves in the supermarket. Additionally, no cheese explanation is complete without a tasting! Sample the very delicious homemade yummies. Midday, we'll travel into Volendam, a former fishing village. Volendam is well-known for its old fishing boats and the traditional clothing still worn by some residents. The women's costume involves high, pointed bonnets and is often featured on tourist postcards from the area. Explore around this cute little town and maybe even buy a special little something for those back home! Enjoy a nice boat ride to Marken with its beautiful wooden houses and interesting architecture. We'll also break for lunch at this point. On our way back into the city, we'll also incorporate a stop at Broek in Waterland. This is a village with a lot of history. In fact, in the 17th and 18th century, the town was a popular residence for merchants and seafarers from Amsterdam. Maybe you'll even get to taste a typical Dutch pancake there! Later in the afternoon, we will visit the Anne Frank House (with pre-reserved tickets, so there is no waiting in line), situated in the center Amsterdam: the hiding place where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary during World War II. Food and beverage not included in the tour price. A Dutch pancake lunch with drink will be €15 and lots of fun. Entrance fees to Anne Frank house are non-refundable.
