Overview
How can you see Venice without a gondola ride?
The traditional gondola ride is unique to Venice. Add a singer serenade to make this an extra special event!
Enjoy a ride on a classic gondola--the unique experience for which Venice is famous. A gondola is a traditional Venetian rowing boat that has been the chief means of transportation within Venice for centuries. Although water taxis are now used on a day-to-day basis, gondolas still serve as traghetti (ferries) over major canals. If you are visiting Venice for the first time, you must experience a gondola ride!
Your private ride will be approximately 30-35 minutes in length. Your gondolier, who will stand facing the bow, will propel you through the magical waters of Venice by pushing a single oar, as gondoliers have done for centuries.
At the end of the tour, we suggest a short walk to the famous Florian Cafe right on San Marco Square, where you can find a great cup of coffee and a special dessert. You'll return to your ship via non-private shuttle (see Special Instructions).
To make this an extra special event, you may wish to be serenaded by a singer and guitarist or accordionist while floating down the the canals of Venice. Choose the singer serenade option when you book the tour.
- One gondola can hold up to 6 people. The musician option includes a singer and a player, which means that groups of more than 4 that are interested in this option will need to take two side-by-side gondolas.
- If you are booking more than one gondola, please contact ShoreTrips for a reduction in price.
- Please contact ShoreTrips if you are interested in a transfer to and from the cruise ship, rather than meeting in San Marco Square.
- All guests will meet at the Gondola Station Danieli, just one minute from San Marco Square. Cruise ship passengers should allow at least 50 minutes to get to San Marco Square from your ship. You can either take a water taxi or your ship's water shuttle.
