Overview
Private English-speaking driver and transportation for the day.
Lucca & Pisa is the perfect combination for those wanting a shorter, less demanding tour day (7 hours). Lucca, with its beautiful architecture and impressive ancient walls, also boasts an excellent culinary tradition and many fine places to eat. In Pisa, we'll drive you right up to the Leaning Tower, so you can enjoy the whole "Field of Miracles" with minimal wear and tear on your feet!
Your tour begins with a 40-minute ride to the fortified city of Lucca, best known for the high wall that still encircles the town. The top of the wall has been transformed into an urban greenspace for pedestrians where you can walk or rent bikes to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Among the many sights that we'll take in are Piazza dell'Anfiteatro--the oval-shaped plaza that now occupies the site of a former Roman amphitheater, and the cathedral of San Martino, which houses Jacopo della Quercia's exquisite sculpture of Ilaria del Carretto that decorates her tomb.
Enjoy one of the many fine restaurants serving genuine Lucchese cuisine or take some time to relax, walking and browsing the shops along the exclusive Via Fillungo. If the mood strikes you, stop in one of the local cafes for a beverage or pastry.
Half an hour after leaving Lucca, you'll be standing in Pisa's "Field of Miracles," where you'll find the Duomo (cathedral), Baptistery, Campo Santo (cemetery) and, of course, Campanile, better known as the Torre Pendente--the Leaning Tower. Be sure to bring your camera so that you can capture all of these amazing sights!
- Your English-speaking driver will not enter sites with you, but will give running commentaries of what you are seeing and make sure you have enough time to visit each site.
- Food, beverages, entrance fees, and gratuities are not included in the price of this tour.

You may add a guide for an additional cost. This guide will be with you for 2 hours in Lucca.- We have found that there may be a rare occurrence of a port change from Livorno to La Spezia. La Spezia is accessible to the same sightseeing as Livorno, but is a slightly longer ride. This port requires an increase in cost as the distance from these highlights is further. Your guide will be waiting for you as you disembark. You may have an adjustment to your tour itinerary depending on your exit time, but be assured that your knowledgeable driver/escort will direct you to a satisfying day. This change is an exception to our policy that ship changes will result in a refund. People have been too disappointed sitting on the ship after this itinerary change and we feel this is in the best interest of the traveler. The additional costs are as follows: to Cinque Terre add $75; to Florence and Pisa, and Pisa and Lucca the additional charge is $265. We apologize for your difficult day, but promise that the sun will shine as soon as you meet your guide.
