Most people have heard of the Chianti wine region. But until you have visited it yourself, you have no idea how wonderful it is! A trip to the Chianti area represents a unique and unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Spending a day between fabulous vineyards and olive groves will help you to understand why this wine is so famous all over the world.

Depart from the cruise ship pier and travel along the highway to the beginning of the "Wine Road." Cross the beautiful Chianti area on your way to Greve, the most important village of the area. Here you will find the monument to Giovanni da Verrazzano (the explorer that discovered the largest part of the East Coast of America), Piazza Matteotti with its lovely porticoes, the San Francesco convent, and many shops, wine-cellars, and butchers. All of the most famous people of Hollywood have stopped in here to order the best beef, salami and ham in the world!

After Greve you will continue on to the magnificent castle of Verrazzano, where you will meet up with a local guide. Now you have two choices. Your first choice is to enjoy the simple wine tasting, as well as a visit to the castle, gardens, and centuries-old ageing cellars. For something a little different, visit the surrounding woods where the wild boars breed naturally! Your local guide will show you the way the wine is made and, most importantly, will give you the opportunity to taste the various products of the farm, together with several wines, each one to accompany different meats.

Your second choice is the complete wine tasting, which will offer you the same tour of the Castle with a local guide, as well as a complete lunch made up of all of the products on the farm. Each dish will be accompanied by the appropriate wine. This is an experience that you will certainly never forget!

Depending on which option you choose (the lunch option will take longer), you may also get a chance to visit San Gimignano, Monteriggioni castle, Volterra, or Siena.

Your English-speaking driver will not enter sites with you, but will give running commentaries of what you are seeing and make sure you have enough time to visit each site. At Verrazzano castle you will be met by a local guide.

Please elect the number of Simple Wine Tastings or Complete Wine Tastings that you would like. Everyone in your group must select the same option, as the two options take different amounts of time.

If you are visiting on a Saturday or Sunday, Verrazzano will be substituted with the Villa VignaMaggio, in same area, and of the same quality.
