Overview
Barumini is home to a UNESCO World Heritage site and Sa Jara Park...a park with wild ponies!
Barumini is a small village situated in the middle of Sardinia. It is known for the most important archaeological site on the island--the nuraghic complex of Barumini.
Your private tour representative will pick you up at the cruise ship pier and we'll head out to "Sa Jara Park," one of the most wild and natural places in all of Europe (also known as La Giara di Gesturi). One of the most interesting things about this park is that it is home to packs of wild ponies, famous for their small dimensions (130 cm), almond eyes, and long flowing tails and manes.
The park is also home to extraordinary vegetation, wild orchids, and even wild fowl. Admire the beauty of this 12km long park along with your guide, who will make sure to point out all things of interest.
Next, we'll continue on to the Nuraghe of Barumini, situated at the foot of the park. The nuragian palace called Su Nuraxi rises westward of Barumini's village and is the widest center of nuragian civilization, thus classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Following this amazing experience, we'll return to the cruise ship pier.
