Overview
Spend a few hours in the lovely village of Sirince.
After meeting your official Turkish guide at the cruise ship pier, you'll make your way to Sirince.
Sirince, the village where the descendants of Ephesus lived until the beginning of the 20th century, is an Orthodox village that lies about 30 km from Kusadasi. Its inhabitants once named it "Cirkince" (ugly), in order to discourage foreigners from visiting. After several years, however, visitors understood that it was not ugly and re-named it "Sirince" (pretty).
Enjoy a walking tour through this lovely village. See the beautiful wooden houses, and visit the town's 19th century church. At some point, stop for a coffee break at the village square, where you can see the local market, famed for its laceworks. The women of the village are famous for their rugs, and, on the way back to Kusadasi, you'll be treated to a short visit to their weaving school.
