Overview
See the highlights of Alanya in this wonderful half-day tour.
Alanya is a pretty holiday resort situated 140km to the east of Antalya. It achieved its importance after passing into the hands of Selchuk Turks in 1221. Along with the Seljuk capital of Konya, Alanya became the winter residence of the Sultans.
As the tour begins, we'll drive through the town, first in the direction of Gazipasa to the east, where you'll view the holiday villages and the suburbs at the skirts of Taurus Mountains, then towards Incekum, along Turkish Riviera to the west, to see the citrus and banana plantations.
Our first stop will be at Damlataþ Cave, a masterpiece of nature that is known for its curative effect on asthma sufferers. See the stalactite formations in color.
Next, we'll visit the Archaelogical Museum of Alanya, which has a wonderful display of artifacts and folkloric art pieces of the region.
Afterwards, we'll cruise by motorboat around the peninsula and view the fortifications and the Old Alanya Citadel. We'll also see the grottos of Fosforlu, Kýzlar, and Aþýklar. As we drive up to the citadel, we'll view the town from the hilltop and see the Red Tower, which was built by Seljuk Turks in 1220. Following a visit to the citadel, we'll return to the cruise ship pier.
