Haleakala Upcountry Day And Lavender Garden TourExplore > United States > Maui > Haleakala Upcountry Day And Lavender Garden TourOverviewA brand-new tour for those who want a relaxing day with many highlights. Among our favorite tour operators on Maui, partners Dave and Kathy both have deep roots in the islands. Dave's grandfather was president of the Pearl Harbor Survivor Foundation. They understand what you want to experience while visiting and their warm personalities will add a lot to your tour. Your day in paradise begins when your guide picks you up in a luxury, air-conditioned limo-van and whisks you off for a scenic drive and a light breakfast snack. Our drive takes us up to Haleakala National Park and the 10,023-foot crater summit. Ascending to the "House of the Sun" Visitor's Center, you'll feel a change in the air and see breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding islands. It may have been here that the phrase "a Kodak moment" was created! Descend Haleakala to the serene gardens of Maui Lavender Company. Explore the fields of organic lavender featuring over 70 lavender varieties and a collection of exotic roses. The fresh and invigorating fragrance will fill your senses and uplift the spirit. There’s time to visit the gift shop and farmer’s market with a selection of products and gifts, directly from the gardens, made from Lavender & Aloha, just for you. Next you will enjoy an al-fresco lunch featuring Pacific-Rim cuisine, served elegantly on linen tablecloths and crystalline plates. Lunch includes Grilled Herb Marinated Chicken Breast and Lightly Blackened 7 Spice Seared Ono, Fresh Garden Vegetable Pasta Salad, "Maui Gold" pineapple slices, and fudge brownies. If you prefer a vegetarian lunch, we can replace the chicken with a fresh lettuce wrap filled with vegetables. (Please request at time of booking.) Your tour continues to the historic Ulupalakua Ranch and Tedeschi Vineyards. This ranch, once called the Rose Ranch, was visited by King Kalakaua and Queen Kapi'olani in 1874. The ranch's "King's Cottage" is now its wine tasting room. Enjoy some wine and "taste the sun, the soft evening fog, and hold 100 years of history in your glass." Finally, you will visit the historic Hawaiian paniolo "cowboy" town of Makawao, with its art gallery, glass-blowing studio and other locally-owned shops. - Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a light jacket. - Please note that the wine-tasting at the Tedeschi Winery is optional. The cost is $10 per person and payable directly to the winery on the day of the tour - There is a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 for this tour. - This tour does not run on Thanksgiving or Christmas.
