Whale And Wildlife Watching In Icy StraitExplore > United States > Icy Strait/Hoonah > Whale And Wildlife Watching In Icy Strait
It's not just whales you'll see, but also porpoise, brown bear, eagles, and a variety of sea birds.
When you skim over the cool, blue waters of the North Pacific powered by twin 250 hp outboards on a 35-foot aluminum boat and see the magnificent humpback whales set against the enormity of this Alaskan land-, sea-, and mountainscape, you will be transported back to a time when these creatures and the Tlingit people were the only inhabitants of this last frontier. Warm inside the covered, heated cabin of this vessel, you will marvel at the "language" of the whales, captured through underwater microphones. You'll get the feeling you are one with populations of sea creatures and soaring eagles, enhanced by the backdrop of the deep green temperate rain forest of southeast Alaska.

Your captain will drop in his underwater microphone, so you can hear the whales "talking" to one another.
