Grenada Vendor's Market And Annadale FallsExplore > Grenada > Grenada Vendor's Market And Annadale FallsOverviewThe best of both worlds--see nature and what it produces! This tour will introduce you to a lush and beautiful countryside which, to us, is reminiscent of that of Europe. Your drive with us will take you through lush mountains to the colourful Grenville Market on the Atlantic coast. Grenville is the island's second-largest city and it has retained its historical identity as a French colonial market town. One of the sights you will see are the deteriorating Cuban and Soviet planes sitting at the end of an old runway, abandoned after the 1983 intervention. You will also see the beautiful Annadale Falls on your scenic island drive and have time to stop for a swim if you choose. A mountain stream cascades 40 feet into a natural pool that is surrounded by exotic vines. If you prefer, enjoy a short nature walk as well. Grenada produces and processes 1/3 of the world’s nutmeg supply, and with the cultivation of spices such as cloves, cinnamon, mace, ginger and turmeric, there are more spices per square mile than any other place in the world! You will learn lots about why Grenada is called the Spice Island during the tour. This is a town that buzzes with people doing their daily marketing so savor your stop at Grenville Market. In front of you find displays of both recognizable and special fruits and vegetables. Your guide will have the answers to all your questions about seasonings so take a chance and bring some home. Also included is a stop by the seaside village of Soubise to observe the making of straw hats. Best to pick one up as a way to shade yourself for the rest of your vacation, and it will remind you of Grenada every time you see it once you are home. Finally there is a fascination with the old Russian planes that are still sitting at the airport here. A quick stop towards the end of your tour will show you another side of the Caribbean, one that brings you back to understand the value of the islands and how so many powerful countries had their eye on this and others in the past. - If you wish to swim at Annadale Falls, please wear your swimsuit and bring a towel. There are facilities at the falls for changing. - The order of this tour may change. - There are opportunities to enjoy short nature walks at different stops. - Please dress accordingly as there is some walking on this tour.
