After picking you up at the pier, you will embark on a great full day tour to San Jose! The drive each way is about 90 minutes and spectacular. We'll drive along the Pan American Highway, the nation's most scenic road!
Your route will travel through lush valleys, green pastures, coffee plantations, and several small villages. Once we arrive in San Jose, the scenic drive of this cosmopolitan capital takes in the Metropolitan Cathedral and the landmark National Theater.
With its ornate 19th-century, neo-Classical architecture, elaborate murals, and gilded baroque fixtures, the National Theater is considered the most beautiful building in the country. Visit the National Museum, this former fortress is home to a vast collection of archaeological and historic artifacts.
Continue onto the exclusive Rohrmoser district, La Sabana Park, and National Stadium. Next we'll enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the best restaurants in San Jose.
On the return to your ship, you will also make shopping stops at different souvenir shops where you can get that special gift you are looking for (however, no pressure to purchase).

- The drive between Puntarenas and San Jose is approximately 90 minutes. Tour sequence may vary to avoid overcrowding.
- Please bring cash for souvenirs, if you wish to make any purchases.
- One non-alcoholic beverage is included. If you would like additional beverages, you must pay for them.

Please note that in Costa Rica there is some confusion about ship time vs. local time. Please see the purser on your ship to clarify whether your ship changes its time to local time so you don't miss your excursion. As each ship is ruled by its captain, it is your responsibility to confirm this while you are sailing. - On Sunday arrivals, when the National Theater is closed and access is not permitted, the Gold Museum is substituted.
