Overview
This Land Rover safari will take you to some of the most magnificent spots in Barbados.
Step into one of our comfortable safari-rigged Land Rovers and prepare yourself for the island tour of your life!
This expedition leads you to the eastern and northeastern sides of the island, where you'll have a chance to see and stop at some of Barbados' most magnificent locations. Your experienced driver will take you to areas both "on and off" the beaten track for coastal views and commanding scenery.
Barbados was created differently than other islands in the southeastern Caribbean and has a distinct appearance. Many islands are heaps of disguised volcanic debris, but Barbados is made of coral. It has dramatic ocean-carved cliffs dominating the east coast and rolling plains inland, which cover up some of its geological secrets. On the windswept east coast, small strips of sand and rocky shore are tucked between boulders lying under the jagged cliffs. You'll soon see why a Land Rover is the best vehicle for touring this terrain.
We'll visit Edgecliff, a spectacular lookout at 1,000 feet above sea level, offering breath-taking panoramic views of almost the entire east coast of the island.
As you drive to Bathsheba, your experienced local guide will tell you about this wild and picturesque fishing village. Once you see the crashing waves at Bathsheba Park, you will understand why this spot has become one of the top surfing spots in the Caribbean, drawing both local and international surfers hoping to catch the perfect wave.
Next stop, Little Bay St. Lucy. Although bordered by beautiful rolling green hills, the attraction here are the blowholes. The surging surf forces water through spaces in the rocks, creating these unique geological events.
Now for something very special, we head to see the Morgan Lewis Windmill. This restored windmill is one of only two working sugar mills in the entire world, so be sure to snap a photo.
If you were to guess how "Cattlewash" got its name, you would probably be correct. Originally, cattle were brought to this area of crashing waves to clean them. Thankfully, that is not the case anymore and the mile-long, sandy beach is now a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Many consider it one of the best beaches on the island.
During your tour, you'll take a break to enjoy a buffet lunch (fish, chicken, macaroni pie, rice, stew, vegetables, salad and dessert) at a beautiful and secluded hotel.
We'll make photo stops during your safari adventure so that you can capture the natural beauty of this tropical paradise. Along the way, our friendly drivers will keep you entertained and informed as they share the folklore, culture, and history of their island home.
