Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Excellent staff and check in process but rooms, for the rate charged, need work.( and i paid only $160 corporate rate). I feel ashamed that this is the standard that we give to Tourists. Loose electric wiring, cracks in the wall. Stained and unclean surfaces. No kettle - which was obviously missed by housekeeping. Low water pressure in shower. Bite the bullet re carpet, reline walls, new furniture and beds. Food in restaurants great value for money and restaurant service acceptable, but i will be cancelling future visits.

Review:   Good hotel and a great location. Easy walk to the downtown area with restaurants and bars and night life. Tour companies pick up from the streets nearby.

Review:   A bit more rustic than expected. Shower was tiny. Location and view was nice. I'd stay at the Scenic property next time as it appears to be more updated

Review:   Would recommend Heartland as a great place to stay. Great location, could easily walk to and from town; with amazing views over Lake Wakatipu. Double glazing means it's not too loud and pretty warm even without using the heating. I found this to be really affordable for its close proximity and it had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again.

Review:   We stayed at Heartland for 3 nights and we don't recommend it at all. Here's why: 1) Very noisy: the street is VERY busy and the soundproofing is just non existent. I had a good pair of earplugs and I could still hear the cars day and night... We could also hear people talking and walking in other rooms. 2) there was no heating in our room. The first night we could barely sleep because of how cold the room was. The next morning we mentioned it to the reception. Unfortunately, the problem never got fixed. There was only one additional blanket in the wardrobe which was not enough in these circumstances. 3) the price we paid vs the quality of the room: our room needed big big big renos... (probably nothing done since the 70's or 80's...) For the price, there's no elevator, no gym, no pool, ... 4) on the second day, the person who cleaned our room left the door unlocked with a small opening... The 2 stars we're giving are for the quality of the WiFi and for Joey (receptionist) who was very helpful.
